Men's Health Week at the Wangaratta Sports and Aquatic Centre

The Wangaratta Sports and Aquatic Centre (WSAC), in partnership with the Grit and Resilience Program, are working to highlight the importance of men’s health and support the health and wellbeing of men and boys in our community.

Men’s Health Week, an annual event, is running from 13 to 19 June 2022 and focuses not just on physical health but also on male mental health and emotional wellbeing

“This Men’s Health Week we are encouraging our male members of our community to take a step back and approach the fitness space from a more holistic perspective”, Penny Hargrave, Manager Wangaratta Sports and Aquatic Centre said.

Bek Nash Webster, Grit and Resilience Program Coordinator added, “Wellness is about looking at your lifestyle not just as isolated areas such as working out, nutrition or mental health – it’s about recognising where everything fits into that health and lifestyle ecosystem”.

To break down potential barriers to achieving positive overall wellbeing, the Wangaratta Sports and Aquatic Centre are offering a free 7-day trial pass to the facility to all male community members. In addition, The Rural City of Wangaratta Grit and Resilience Team will have a presence at the WSAC on Friday 17 June between 9am – 12pm to share information packs on available men’s health services in the area.

“We are really looking forward to providing support to our male community during this important awareness week” Penny Hargrave said.

Men’s health is about wellness, not just illness.

Good health is essential for a good life. But there are barriers that get in the way of keeping our body and mind in good nick and sometimes we need help to break them down.

It's important to understand what's stopping you so you can take proactive steps to overcome it.

Wangaratta Sports and Aquatic Centre (WSAC) can help with breaking down some of those barriers.

  • We have amazing male instructors across 11 classes per week offering different styles of training. See classes and their benefits below.
  • We have 24/7 access to a fully equipped gym – you can work out when the time is right for you!
  • We have 6 squash courts – available 7 days per week - book a court and have great sweat session with a mate.
  • We have a 25m pool all year round and a 50m pool October – March ready for laps or just a splash with the kids.

During Men’s Health Week 13-19 June we are offering ALL men our 7 Day FREE Trial pass to try everything our Centre has to offer.

Plus, on Friday 17 June join us for a FREE cuppa for all men at NRSH Café (located inside the Centre) between 9am – 12 noon. The Rural City of Wangaratta Grit & Resilience Team will be at the Centre and will have info packs to share on Men's Health services available.

Please note that our regular hours and classes are reduced on the Queen’s Birthday Victorian Public Holiday Monday 13 June 2022.
