The Wangaratta Sports and Aquatic Centre (WSAC) is excited to host its very first Big Freeze to support FightMND, on Sunday 22 June from 1pm.

Leon Newton, Manager, Sports Aquatics and Events said, “This event is a great opportunity to support an important cause while also bringing our community together”.

He continued “We’re pleased to play a small role in supporting the work they do through this local event”. The Big Freeze raises awareness and funds for life changing research to Motor Neurone Disease (MND). MND attacks and weakens the nerves that communicate between the brain and the muscles needed to move, speak, swallow and breath.

To support the cause, WSAC will re-open its outdoor pool during the winter closure period, inviting community members to take part in a fun, family-friendly afternoon.

WSAC is calling on locals to brave the cold and take the plunge and express interest to join the WSAC team and raise funds in the lead-up to the event. The top fundraisers will earn their spot to climb the inflatable and slide into the chilly outdoor pool.

Want to be involved in another way? You can complete the form to create your unique donation page and take the plunge your way. There will be opportunities for ice bucket challenges and other cool activities.

Fight MND merchandise, including beanies and socks will be available to purchase at WSAC reception soon, with proceeds supporting the FightMND campaign.
