COVID changes at Wangaratta Sports & Aquatic Centre

Thank you for your patience and understanding over recent  weeks as we have begun to reopen with  very limited numbers and amid heavy restrictions. Today, as the state ticks off a goal on the National Roadmap, we are delighted to announce that we can increase the  number of visitors to the facilities  from Tuesday 26 October 2021.

In line with Victoria’s Roadmap: Delivering the National Plan and the achievement of 70% of 16+ population fully vaccinated, we will be able to accommodate the following numbers  at the Wangaratta Sports & Aquatic Centre:

  • INDOOR POOL area – INCREASE to maximum of 30 patrons (from 20)
  • OUTDOOR POOL area – INCREASE to maximum of 150 patrons (from 50)
  • DRY FACILITIES area – INCREASE to maximum 30 patrons (from 10).

The next step in Victoria’s Roadmap is  achieving 80% of 16+ fully vaccinated. Once this occurs, these numbers will increase even further. We anticipate that this will be on or around 05 November 2021.

How you can return to play at WSAC!

As you may be aware, the State Government has mandated that visitors to regional sports and aquatics centres must be fully vaccinated unless they have a medical exception. As a result, Wangaratta Sports and Aquatics Centre has put in place a Vaccination Checking Process. From Tuesday 26 October 2021, anyone aged 16 or over will need to show proof of their vaccination status to a WSAC employee before entering the facilities.

What is the WSAC Vaccination Checking Process?

To ensure we meet the requirements of the Victorian Roadmap, we will need ongoing proof of your vaccination status. You can do this in one of two ways:

  1. Show your Vaccination Certificate to the Customer Service team at the front desk each time you visit, This can be done either electronically or as a printed version. You will need to carry a copy with you at all times.
  2. Approve the Customer Service team to update your membership profile when you show a copy of your vaccination certificate (or official medical exemption) on your next visit.  This will allow us to provide you with express entry to the venue using  your membership wristband.

Children under 16 years old do not need to be vaccinated but when accompanied by a person 16 years or older that person will also need to provide proof of their vaccination status.

How do I prove my vaccination status?

Approved options for proving your vaccination status include:

  • Linking your digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate to your Service VIC app. Once you’ve done this, the app will show a green tick when you check in using the QR code.
  • Showing your digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate, which can be accessed through the Express Plus Medicare mobile app or your Medicare online account through myGov.
  • Supplying a  printed version of your digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate or your full immunisation history statement. Both can be accessed through your myGov account.
  • Providing your official exemption from an authorised medical practitioner.

Further information on how to access your COVID-19 digital certificate  is available here Getting help during coronavirus (COVID-19) - How to get proof - Services Australia
