Become a Swim Teacher

Expression of Interest Close Friday 5th August 2022

WSAC Swim Teachers are valued members of our team, delivering the life-long skill of swimming via the Life Saving Victoria’s Swim and Survive (Learn to Swim) Program.

WSAC are looking to expand our program and are seeking dedicated, passionate Swim Teachers to deliver swimming and water safety lessons at our first-class aquatic facility.

This Expression of Interest is for those interested in becoming a Swim teacher by undertaking the Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety Course followed by required supervised teaching hours.

Local community members have the opportunity to take advantage of a 50% discount off the course cost and will also be paid up to 10 hours of their supervised teaching hours.

WSAC offers Learn to Swim classes 6 days a week during school terms for students aged 6 months old up to adults. The Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety course will provide candidates with the skills and knowledge to teach independent students from 4 years to 17 years of age. There are also regular school groups, school holiday intensive courses and the annual Summer VICSWIM program that complement the regular program.

The AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety Course contains theoretical and practical components delivered across 2 days of training as well as online learning modules. The next course is scheduled at WSAC from 8.30am – 5.30pm on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 August 2022. Candidates need to have a reasonable level of fitness and can expect to spend the majority of their teaching time in the water.
